Description

I was looking back over some of my earlier work in Daz and this one really bothered me...
Story Time by Shadowhawk9973
I was looking for something to work on today anyway, so i pulled up the original scenes and changed a lot of settings. I rendered both scenes again and then went to work putting them together in a different way than I had done it before. I used GIMP, PaintshopPro X9 and Nik Color Effects. It took 8 layers and a lot of single pixel work with my pen tablet to get it to this point.  I think I finally got it to better convey the idea I was going for.

It's far, far better than the original one. It's not nearly as busy or crowded as the original one was. the colors are more life-like and vibrant. The lighting is believable and adds life to the scene. I prefer the way that you patched the imagined story into the scene in this second take. It seems more dimensional rather than comic book like. It almost feels like the story is popping into the characters' world through a portal. Your skill improvement and enlightened information bank about digital artwork shows here in the way you executed your ideas. There is just one thing that kind of bothers me. The little red-head next to the rocking horse seems to feel like a porcelain doll instead of a living child. Her gaze is too... static and she seems to not be engaged in what's going on at all. If you positioned her head so that it looks more like she's looking at the older lady, it might fix that problem. Or if she maybe had a less expressionless look on her face, that could potentially fix the porcelain doll effect. Overall, though, this is really nice, quality work. Good Job!
